Abstract

Titis Thoriquttyas, Analytical on Students Book for Grade X Islamic State HighSchool from Gender’s Perspective (The Study on Learning Books of Fikih, al-Qur’an Hadis and Akidah Akhlak Which Applying Kurikulum 2013), MasterThesis, Graduate Program, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University ofYogyakarta, 2015This research inspired from the gender discourses which disseminated intothe using of learning books in the teaching process. These gender discourses couldbe manifested into the material and illustration picture that explained about theposition of men and women in the various activities. The existence of learningmaterials played significant role, because of its involved with the learner in thehigh intensity and its function as the second source after the educator.This research classified into library research with implementing theseveral methods; content analysis and content interpretation, as well as theinferential analysis; either qualitatively or quantitatively. In the analysis stage,researcher seize on the two aspects, first is Macro’s aspect (i.e. marginalization;subordination; stereotype; double burden and violence) and the second is Micro’saspect (i.e. access; participation; control and benefit). The research objects areinvolved the three lesson books for Student on Grade X in Madrasa Aliyah asfollow Fikih, al-Qur’an Hadis and Akidah Akhlak.In the research findings, there are the forms of gender discourses whichreflected and illustrated through marginalization and subordination as well as therestriction on access and participation for women in the public sphere. In relatedwith these contents, for example in Fikih’s learning book found that 65,5 % ispreference to men; 17,2 % is preference to women and 17,2 % is preference towomen-men. The comparative percentage is almost similar found in AkidahAkhlak and al-Qur’an Hadis book. Based on these findings, researcher has aconclusion that the mapping of learning material and illustration picture stilldominated by men-preferenced, but from the other perspective, the illustrationwhich portrayed the equal position between women and men is rather high so thatit could be indicated as the effort to involve the equal gender discourse in thelearning books. That is become the excessing point from these learning booksviewed from gender’s perspective.The contribution of this research is going to show as well as givingevidence about the urgency of re-interpretation on the socialization model ofgender discourses which integrated the equality principle and the Islamic learningprinciples that accommodate the needed of gender equality, one of the solution isdetermining the learning books which sensitive with the gender’s issues.
